About Me and the Hangry Beast
Hello, my name is Aby Tannas. Thank you for stopping by. I was born and raised in the Philippines but I moved to British Columbia, Canada in 2006. Next to good food, travel and languages are my life-long passions. Okay, that’s not true. I like shopping a lot, like a lot a lot.
What’s with the name anyway? Normally, I’m polite, soft-spoken and painfully shy. When I’m hungry or my caffeine levels are low, I turn into an angry, cantankerous beast. The Hangry Beast is primarily my photography portfolio but it is also my creative space.
There will be a lot of pictures, mostly pictures of places. I’m curious about places and how they can shape the lives of people that are there. This means that there will be the occasional street photography with real people in them. Please know that I don’t mean to offend anyone and my pictures are selected with utmost care and respect. If you find a picture of yourself on my site, please let me know if you want it removed or if you want a copy of it.
There may even be the occasional painting. My instructor said that I can paint now apparently. Oh yes, the verbose essays will sadly be a given, I’m sorry about that. There will definitely be lots here about food and travel. I love these two things most of all. I hope I never have to choose between them but I really think that travel and food go very well together. Food can transport us to places we’ve never been. The more I travel, the more I want to eat. Sadly, my ever-expanding waistline is the collateral damage.
A word of caution, I’m not a professional chef or a recipe developer. In fact, I’m really very bad at following cooking instructions. I tend to improvise and experiment quite a bit. Please beware, there will be flops, possibly lots of them.
The pictures are all mine, if you want to use them please ask first. Even if the copyright watermark is not in all the images, they still belong to me. I work really hard to create these pictures. Those plane tickets sadly aren’t cheap. Let’s not talk about the jetlag.
Please contact me if you want to work together.
I’m happy to receive feedback, please leave me a comment or get in touch. I’d love to hear from you.
Thanks for dropping by.
